Careful Please

John Wayne admitted that he worked as a bit player in Lloyd "Ham" Hamilton comedies of the 1920's. Below is a scene from the 2-reeler Careful Please (1926) in which John Wayne may appear.

Written and directed by Norman Taurog and produced by Educational Film Exchanges Inc., the short was released in February 1926, making this possibly Wayne's first known screen appearance. And it is only fitting—if it is indeed Wayne—that it would be a fight scene, a hallmark of course of his long career.

The sequence has been heavily edited for presentation here, including the removal of intertitles. Key stills appear at the end of the video.
